In the wake of her downward spiral in the Season 2 Premiere, Vic (Ashleigh Cummings) is determined to put some space between herself and her son, Wayne (Jason David) and boyfriend, Lou Carmody (Jonathan Langdon). How can she face them again after nearly burning their house down and putting them all in mortal danger? She uses the power of the Shorter Way Bridge to go to the one place that feels like home: her dad (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). But Chris McQueen has changed quite a bit in the eight years since Vic saw him last. What will he have to say when he sees that Vic is following in the footsteps of his parenting mistakes?
Back in her hometown of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Vic must deal with the ghosts of the past she walked away from: her relationship with her parents, her college dreams deferred, bittersweet memories of Craig. But while she's processing her childhood wounds, Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto) makes his move.
Now that Manx has restored his strength, he sets his sights on revenge against Vic -- and he knows just how to hurt her the most. While Vic is away in Haverhill, Manx sets his sights on young Wayne. When Manx and Bing Partridge (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) make a visit to Lou's shop, could the people Vic loves the most become the next passengers in Manx's evil Wraith?
Meanwhile, in Christmasland, Millie Manx (Matteo Conforti) discovers a shocking revelation about her father's inscape -- and her once carefree home in the place where "unhappiness is against the law" starts to look more like a haunted prison. Plus, when Charlie Manx enlists the help of other strong creatives in his revenge plot against Vic, the supernatural world of NOS4A2 starts to get a whole lot bigger.
