Inside the Fear the Walking Dead Premiere — The Cast on the Dwindling Resources at the Ranch

Now that Jeremiah Otto Sr. is gone, Jake has become the defacto leader of the ranchers.

He's trying his best to fill the role his father prepared him for, but there's one very important thing his father neglected to tell him: The reservoir is depleted, and the ranch only has six weeks of water remaining.

"When Walker came to the ranch, he thought what he was getting was this rich aquifer," explains Michael Greyeyes in a new behind-the-scenes video delving into part 2 of the Mid-Season Premiere. "What he didn't understand was that the drought had affected the ranch terribly."

Tension is already running high with residents of Broke Jaw and the Nation side-by-side in tight quarters.

"Peace at the ranch is very fragile as it is," says Kim Dickens (Madison). "If the ranch finds out that water has to be rationed, what little peace they have gained will just be broken."

While the water supply is quickly dwindling, so is any goodwill as residents of both sides adopt a "every man for himself" attitude.

But, killing each other won't fill the reservoir.
