"I wanted to do a black hero, but I wanted to do something that wasn't typical," Stan Lee, the Black Panther's creator says in this exclusive mini-documentary about the significance of the Black Panther.

Comic writers including David Walker, Brandon Easton and Arvell Jones discuss the negative stereotypes that plagued many black comic book characters  -- but not the T'Challa, King of Wakanda. "He's not a sidekick. He's not an afterthought. He's not a character that shows up and is tragically killed at the end. He's not a mugger," says Michael Davis, one of the co-founders of Milestone Comics. "You don't see color when you're a kid, but the minute a black superhero shows up, that's all you see."
