Hurt people hurt other people. At least, that seems to be the theme of the NOS4A2 Season 2 Premiere.

Eight years after the events of Season 1, Vic McQueen (Ashleigh Cummings) is struggling to move forward from the events of her fight with immortal vampire and child kidnapper, Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto), with the trauma manifesting in unfortunate ways for her small family. Since setting Charlie Manx’s sinister Rolls-Royce Wraith on fire and sending him into coma, Vic has slowly built a life in Colorado. Thousands of miles away from her broken childhood home, Vic has raised her young son, Bruce Wayne McQueen (Jason David), with Lou Carmody (Jonathan Langdon), the kind and supportive biker who helped her stop Manx in the Season 1 Finale.

Vic is trying her best as a mother, but it’s clear the odds are against her: she’s still suffering from unresolved PTSD from her standoff with Manx; plus, the loss of the life she dreamed for herself before she became entangled with the World of Thought still weighs heavy. Vic has made a tentative peace with her life with Lou and Wayne. But that peace is completely shattered when she hears a long-buried name of her old nemesis.

On the news, infamous serial killer Charlie Manx is pronounced dead. But this doesn’t bring Vic any joy. In fact, it sends her further into an emotional tailspin -- especially when Vic starts getting threatening calls from Christmasland. Are they real, or just a hallucination caused by her trauma?

Vic reaches out to Maggie Leigh (Jahkara Smith), who has built a life in Haverhill with detective-turned-FBI agent Tabitha Hutter (Ashley Romans). Maggie has left her divination and Scrabble tiles behind, and urges Vic to move on, but Vic is certain: Maggie’s supernatural tiles said Vic would be the one to kill Manx, and Maggie’s tiles never lie.

When Vic gets a call about restoring an old bike out of the blue, Vic thinks this might be her new “knife” -- and a new opportunity to get back to her inscape, the Shorter Way Bridge. Can she use her powers to put her fears behind her, or will the World of Thought only make things worse?
