Stan Lee's Best Comic Book Movie Cameos
Excelsior! Stan Lee makes another legendary appearance at the Stash in the Midseason Premiere. In honor of his Comic Book Men cameo, take a look back at when he's graced the set of superhero movies from years passed.
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Stan Lee appears as an unfortunate victim of gamma poisoning, thanks to a contaminated batch of guarana soda. Unlike Bruce Banner, not everyone can survive deadly gamma.
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Iron Man 2 features Stan Lee being mistaken by press and special guests as Larry King at a party. Lee seems understandably confused.
Thor (2011)
Stan Lee plays a pickup truck driver in Thor, trying desperately to pull Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, out of the ground. To everyone's amusement, his truck falls apart in the attempt. What they don't know is that only Thor can move the iconic warhammer.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Stan Lee shows up as a World War II general during what was supposed to be Captain America's Medal of Honor acceptance. Cap had more pressing concerns that day, it seems.
The Avengers (2012)
In Marvel's first superhero ensemble, The Avengers, Stan Lee is seen briefly in a TV interview as an incredulous civilian. "Superheroes in New York? Give me a break!" he says.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
The Amazing Spider-Man cleverly employs Stan Lee as a busy librarian, oblivious to the battle between Lizard and Spider-Man behind him thanks to a very effective pair of noise-cancelling headphones.
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Stan Lee pops up in Iron Man 3 as an enthusiastic beauty pageant judge, granting some lucky lady a perfect 10. It's a brief cameo, but his face and demeanor are immediately recognizable.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
In the second installment to the Thor series, Stan Lee appears as a mental patient in a room where Stellan Skarsgård's Erik Selvig is giving a lecture about parallel worlds and using shoes as props. Lee, completely uninterested, just wants his shoe back.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
In The Winter Soldier, Stan Lee appears as an unlucky Smithsonian security guard who realizes that the Captain's famous suit has gone missing under his watch. "Oh man, I am so fired," he says.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
Stan Lee appears in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as a guest at Peter Parker's graduation. "I think I know that guy!" he tells his wife. You sure do, Stan.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Stan Lee makes a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy as the Xandarian ladies' man, seen through Rocket Raccoon's binoculars wooing a younger woman. "Where's your wife, old man," Rocket Raccoon jokes.
Big Hero 6 (2014)
Stan Lee's voice can be heard as Fred's dad in a heartwarming post-credit scene in Big Hero 6. In what may be Stan Lee's longest cameo, we learn that Fred's father is a retired superhero, and has a lot to catch up with his son about.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Stan Lee appears in Avengers: Age of Ultron as a drunken military veteran. "Excelsior!" he exclaims as he is carried out of the bar after doing one too many shots with Thor. We can't all party like a god, Stan.
Ant-Man (2015)
Stan Lee appears as a bartender during one of Luis's long-winded flashbacks. In it, Luis explains to Ant-Man's alter-ego, Scott Lang, that Sam Wilson of the Avengers is looking for Ant-Man. In the flashback, bartender Stan agrees Luis's "writer chick" acquaintance is "crazy stupid fine."
