The fight between Morgan and an unlucky Savior quickly turned into a gruesome bloodbath in the Season 8 Mid-Season Premiere.
In a new video on the making of the episode, the special effects crew show how they used that scene to take "gut-wrenching" to a whole new level.

Getting his guts ripped out was a welcomed treat for stunt guy Oliver Keller, who played the ill-fated Savior.
"You might as well be talking about going to get dinner at Waffle House!" jokes Stunt Coordinator Monty Simons.
On the front of Keller's chest was a little cavity that held all of the fake blood and silicone intestines, which Lennie James (Morgan) likens to "wet Play-Doh and honey."
Even for a regular on a show like The Walking Dead, the sheer amount of blood during the stunt was shocking.
"It completely took me by surprise just how much blood came out of him," says Lennie. "I thought, 'Oh my God. The stunt guy is not potty trained!'"
