Chandler Riggs Talks With EW; Uproxx Thrilled With New Showrunner Choice

This week, Chandler Riggs talks about Carl's legacy with Entertainment Weekly, while Uproxx is thrilled with The Walking Dead's new showrunner. Plus, Lauren Cohan previews Maggie's state of mind in the season's second half. Read on for more:

• Chandler Riggs tells Entertainment Weekly that Carl is "definitely leaving behind a really long-lasting legacy, which was the coolest part about playing those final moments — knowing that Carl was going to have such a lasting impact on the story."

• Noting Angela Kang's new role as The Walking Dead's showrunner, Uproxx says, "I am a huge fan of Kang’s — in fact, I lobbied for her to take over as Fear the Walking Dead showrunner three years ago — and I am legitimately excited about her stewardship as the fourth showrunner of The Walking Dead."

• Lauren Cohan explains to Entertainment Weekly that Maggie "continues down this path of vengeance after Negan that I feel like the audience is on. I really feel like Maggie gets to vocalize the anger towards that enemy in this, and it gets very much more specific as we go on."

• Entertainment Weekly speaks with Andrew Lincoln, who says of the show, "We’re eight years, into a big story and I think if there is a future game — which I know that there is — they’re going to have to take some big swings and change things up."

• Entertainment Weekly learns from Scott Gimple that the Midseason Premiere "sets very important ideas for the rest of the season — very important motivations and it re-contextualizes everything that’s been going on and gives it a perspective that just can’t be denied."

• Asked by Express.co.uk whether he'd return to the show, Jon Bernthal explains, "I feel like we’ve seen all we need to see of Shane. If we got to see him backwards - that would be interesting. But Shane died in that field."

• Asked why characters killed off the show become more beloved, Michael Cudlitz says, "I think they grow their own popularity after they leave because everyone always wonders what that character would do," according to ComicBook.com.

• AMC is promoting the show's Feb. 25 return with a painted wall billboard in Brooklyn that taps into Greg Nicotero's "love of Hollywood history," Entertainment Weekly reports.

• Syfy Wire spotlights what happened when AMC "had a little fun" with the Google Arts & Culture app and "ran photos of the stars of The Walking Dead through the portrait matcher."
