Bottomless Brunch at Colman's: It's Officially Margarita Season
Cinco de Mayo may have come and gone, but margarita season is now in full swing. Grab your limes and salt because in the latest episode of Bottomless Brunch at Colman's, host Colman Domingo is about to teach you and his brunch guests, Succession's Nicholas Braun and Riley Keough (Mad Max; Fury Road, Logan Lucky), how to make the classic Mexican cocktail.
First, collect your ingredients:
- Tequila
- Orange liqueur
- Limes, or lime juice
- Salt (for the rim)
- Ice
Now that you have everything you need, you can start making the cocktail:
Step 1: Pour some salt onto a flat surface. The salt should be spread out as wide as the opening of the glass you're using.
Step 2: Rub the rim of the glass with the lime, or with lime juice. Then turn the glass over and place the rim right in the salt so it coats the rim.
Step 3: Place ice into a separate glass and pour in 3 ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of orange liqueur, and lime juice.
Step 4: Shake the ingredients with ice (if you don't have a shaker, you can pour the contents of the glass into a third glass a couple of times).
Step 4.5: If you want to get creative, you've come to the right place. Colman encourages throwing a small handful of your favorite fruit into the bottom of the glass and muddling it a bit.
Step 5: Place fresh ice into your salt-rimmed glass and pour the now mixed tequila and orange liquor through a strainer over the fresh ice. Garnish with lime!
Turn margarita night into a game night with a few fun facts. Get it wrong, take a drink!
- A restaurant owner in Tijuana says he came up with the margarita around 1938.
