Summer movies don’t have to be about war (Terminator Salvation), doomsday (Angels & Demons) or domestic terrorism (The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3). They can be about whimsical air travel, too. In the trailer of Up, an old grouch — voiced by Ed Asner — bundles balloons to his house, sending it flying all the way to the jungles of South America. Needless to say, the star here isn’t Asner; it’s Pixar, the studio behind Toy Story, Finding Nemo and WALL-E. In this two-and-a-half-minutes glimpse, Up manages to use every color in the visible spectrum; its characters appear more endearing than anything in two-dimensions rightly should be. Oh, wait. This movie is in 3D!
