The Crow Will Fly Again Thanks to Blade Director

Just like slain rock musician Eric Draven rose from the grave to avenge his true love, The Crow is a franchise that just won’t die. James O’Barr’s beloved character — created as a means of dealing with the death of his girlfriend — has spawned comics, book anthologies, a short-lived TV series, and big screen adaptations. (The most successful movie version, 1994’s The Crow , starred the late Brandon Lee, who died tragically during production.)

Last year, director Stephen Norrington ( Blade ) announced plans to “reinvent” the Crow with a new film adaptation for Relativity Media. Norrington says his version will ditch the Gothic trappings of Alex Proyas’ cult hit for a “realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style” quality. Time will tell if the director behind The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen can improve upon the original.
