Classic Hitchcock Cameos

One of Alfred Hitchcock‘s signatures was a brief cameo appearance in all of his movies.  I checked YouTube and, lo and behold, there’s a fine compilation of these tiny roles.

The slyest of these is from Lifeboat (1944) with the always-appealing Tallulah Bankhead.  Here, Hitchcock appears in an ad in the newspaper that’s being perused on the skiff. The ad features the director dieting in a before and after picture.  It’s an hilarious moment in a very disturbing feature film (which John Steinbeck wrote as a novella). So, here’s to you: enjoy this on this dreary Friday.
