Earlier, we told you of Exhumed Films’ 24 hour horror marathon in Philly coming up on October 27. Well, not to be outdone, Chicago’s landmark (and haunted!) Music Box Theater is hosting its own 24-hour horror marathon next Saturday, October 13th, called the Music Box Massacre and it’s looking like a winner.
Unlike many horror festivals, this year’s marathon will not be forgetting horror’s classic roots, starting with the 1927 silent classic The Cat and the Canary, complete with live musical accompaniment, followed by Tod Browing’s still-disturbing Freaks and the all-time classic Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein. The fest will also feature screenings with special guest Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad) and the lovely Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni (Demons 2) and will wrap up with Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (which starts at 9:30am Sunday morning!).
