I just checked out the December Boys Web site and trailer, the Daniel Radcliffe starrer which drops on these shores in mid-September. It’s a coming of age story where the Radcliffe character is one of four orphans searching and hoping for their grail: loving, adoptive parents. Radcliffe stands up to authority, gets his first kiss and is part of a kind of competition to be the son to adoptive parents.
I’d love to see Radcliffe branch out and become lauded for something other than Harry Potter. He’s already been bold enough for the complex, nudity-included Equus role in the London theater, for which he garnered some great reviews.
Whether he can break out is up to you. Do you think that Daniel Radcliffe will always be dogged by his Harry Potter role? Or can he break out and become an actor who survives the child actor stigma? Take our poll and lemme know.
