The decapitated head of Chewbacca — black eyes vapidly staring, still frozen in the same paralysis of fear that they betrayed as the Sernpidalian moon hurtled down upon his shaggy form — is one of many items of Star Wars memorabilia being auctioned off by Profiles in History on ebay on Thursday and Friday.
The head — hollowed out and still smelling of the stench of Peter Mayhew — is expected to fetch between $80,000 and $100,000, although neat trades like that Luke Skywalker action figure with the Darth Vader helmet will be considered (not really).
Other items up for auction include “Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode II—Attack of the Clones ($40,000-$60,000), Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode 1—The Phantom Menace ($25,000-$35,000), the Grail tablet from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ($30,000-$40,000), the Statue of Liberty head from Planet of the Apes ($30,000-$40,000) and the original Johnny-Five robot from Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 ($100,000-$150,000). “
If there’s a prize amongst the bunch, it’s that Statue of Liberty head from Planet of the Apes. If I had that, I’d put it in my living room and every day greet the morning by standing in front of it in my underpants and screaming “It was Earth all along!”
