Prolific character actor Stephen Root has joined the cast of AMC’s upcoming new drama TURN in the role of Nathaniel Sackett. Root’s previous television credits include Justified, Boardwalk Empire, King of the Hill and Pushing Daisies, among many others.
Root will play Nathaniel Sackett, a civilian member of the Committee to Detect and Defeat Conspiracies, an 18th century proto-CIA. TURN, which stars Jamie Bell, is the untold story of America’s first spy ring, whose members turn against King and family to fight for freedom. Based on the book Washington’s Spies by Alexander Rose, TURN introduces us to The Culper Ring, a group of childhood friends who become George Washington’s secret weapon in turning the tide of the war and in the process revolutionized the art of espionage.
