The massive battle that ended Season 8 was one of the biggest days in TWD history.
In a new behind-the-scenes video, the crew shows what went into creating the episode — including 400 extras, the highest number for any episode thus far.
Plus, Eugene’s faulty bullets required a bit of CG magic and some practical effects.
Since the crew couldn’t blow the guns up, they used digital effects and prosthetic makeup with pieces of gun embedded into the actors’ faces to help sell the scene even more.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s signature glove also had a wound stitched into it so he could easily slide it on and off during filming.
“This is a culmination of a huge, huge story we’ve told and it’s really exciting to see it all come together,” says Executive Producer Denise Huth.
