The most junior of the expedition's four doctors, Henry Goodsir is a gentle, moral soul who joins the Discovery Service to explore the natural world of the Arctic. But his open-minded intellect and empathetic nature make him the first to realize something supernatural is also in play, and he sets about trying to understand the forces working to destroy the men even while he redoubles his efforts to try to connect with this vast and uncanny landscape and its indigenous people.
Paul Ready is a prolific British actor onstage and on screen. Among his many roles on television, he has most recently filmed a leading role in new BBC comedy series Motherland. Other TV credits include The Witness for the Prosecution, Cuffs and Ripper Street; also for BBC, Fortitude; for Sky Atlantic, HBO’s Virtuoso; and Utopia for Channel 4. In film, his credits include the forthcoming The Death of Stalin from Main Journey and BBC America’s Private Peaceful. Onstage, Ready has starred in countless hit shows at the National Theatre and in the West End, most recently starring in Measure for Measure at the Young Vic. Other stage highlights include In the Republic of Happiness at the Royal Court and Noises Off at the Old Vic/West End. He was also in A Woman Killed with Kindness, Time and the Conways, Major Barbara and Saint Joan, all at the National Theatre, and in World Music at the Donmar Warehouse.
