David is happily married. He’s also a professor, and with his father-in-law as his boss, he may very well be on his way to tenure soon. So when a woman approaches him in the parking lot at work to tell him that she’s his soulmate, it hits him like a shockwave.
This woman, Alison, shouldn’t even know she’s David’s soulmate because when David took the test, he asked that his results remain private. If Episode 2 teaches us anything, it’s that we should never ignore red flags in relationships.
“He really struck me as somebody who is seeking something,” explains David Costabile, who plays David in the latest episode. And this must be true, because while he shuns Alison initially, he eventually agrees to meet with her for coffee. This small decision acts as a tripwire that will blow up David’s life as he knows it. As he searches to uncover what it is that Alison wants from him, she’s quietly working on something of her own.
