James Watkins (Co-Creator/Executive Producer)

  • James Watkins made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed thriller Eden Lake, winning Best Horror Film at the 2009 Empire Awards, the Jury Prize at Sitges Fantasy Film Festival and Best Director at Fantasporto. Watkins was also nominated for the Douglas Hickox Award at the British Independent Film Awards. He then directed The Woman in Black – a chilling Victorian ghost story – that stars Daniel Radcliffe and is the most successful horror film in British history.

    Before McMafia, Watkins directed the cult Black Mirror episode Shut Up and Dance. As a screenwriter, Watkins had a first-look deal with Working Title Films. Under this deal, he wrote several scripts, including the acclaimed horror-thriller, My Little Eye. Watkins has also written scripts for Film4, BBC Films and Warner Bros.
