A series of high-profile events were held Feb. 8 and 9 in Paris to promote the HD premiere of Season 1 of Mad Men on Sundance Channel in France, among them a series of interviews featuring creator Matthew Weiner, actors Christina Hendricks and John Slattery as well as Harold Gronenthal (Senior Vice President & General Manager, Rainbow Media Global) and Ed Palluth (Senior Vice President, Global Distribution, Rainbow Media).
While there, Weiner was recognized with one of France’s highest distinctions, a Medal of Honor at the Paris Town Hall. Christophe Girard, Deputy Mayor for Culture Affairs, honored Weiner for his contribution to culture and society and for revealing the scope of his talent by creating the world of Mad Men, a series that is considered a pop culture phenomenon.
The Mad Men HD premiere-screening/cocktail-party was held at Le Royal Monceau, a 5-star hotel in the heart of Paris. The pilot episode of Mad Men was shown in high definition with French subtitles. VIP attendees included Weiner, Hendricks and Slattery among others.
Furthermore, a Master Class spotlighting Weiner and featuring Hendricks and Slattery, was held at Forum Des Images. The forum opened with a welcome by Laurence Herzsberg, the General Manager of Le Forum and an introduction by moderator Olivier Joyard, a former film critic who is now a journalist and documentary director. Joyard then introduced Weiner, Hendricks and Slattery to an audience of more than 500. Weiner answered questions and showed clips from Mad Men. Hendricks and Slattery later joined the Q&A. The event concluded with an autograph session for attendees.Read More
