In this extended interview with Guillermo del Toro, the famous horror director and longtime friend of James Cameron, drops a bombshell: When he was younger, he saw a UFO.
He tells Cameron how he and a friend were driving down the highway and saw a mysterious light on the horizon that was moving strangely. When del Toro told his friend to flash his high beams at it, the light suddenly zoomed to them “in less than a second.”
“It was badly designed,” laughs del Toro. “If I was making this up, I would describe the UFO as something amazing, but it was a flying saucer.”
They laugh at how disappointing it looked, but del Toro continues: “I cannot describe the fear I felt … I was a dog in front of a tank.”
Plus, del Toro and Cameron discuss why we need monsters in movies. Click here to watch these two old friends catch up on horror.
