Pessimistic, hot-headed cop Pete once blamed Synths for all the world's ills – and certainly for the breakdown of his relationship, as his wife Jill became involved with her Synth carer. Pete overcame his shock and incomprehension, and we find him – now promoted as part of an expanded Special Technologies Task Force – bravely attempting to make an impossible relationship work.
