Both June and Althea are self-sufficient survivors, but when Althea gets ill, they both realize they can’t make it alone.
Before they can move forward, though, they must make peace with their past.
“This whole episode is really about June struggling with who I am now versus who I was before,” says Showrunner Andrew Chambliss in a new video breaking down Episode 12.
“She’s worried that she’s going to creep back into the person she was who didn’t trust other people,” Chambliss continues.
Similarly, Al has always been someone who’s in control, but she’s in a very vulnerable position when she gets sick and someone steals the SWAT van that’s kept her alive and contains her beloved tapes.
Both survivors will have to reflect on who they want to be going forward — even if it means letting go of who they were before.
