Al flees into a building to escape a herd.

Al finds a walkie in a parking garage and tries to contact her group. The walkie dies. She spots a TV news van nearby and locates recording equipment inside.

Al hot-wires a police car after grabbing some of the recording equipment.

Al drives back to the hospital and encounters Martha. Martha orders Al to give Morgan a message. Al refuses. Martha attacks Al with an infected Jim, then knocks Al unconscious.

Al wakes up inside the SWAT van, reunited with the group. John explains that they came looking for her after hearing her on the walkie.

Morgan watches a video that Martha recorded with Al’s video camera. In the video, Martha tells Morgan that she’s disappointed in him and vows to make him strong.

The group sits around a campfire. Morgan describes his plan to pick up more boxes at the truck stop then distribute them en route to Alexandria.

Morgan rewatches Martha’s video while on night watch. John takes over and correctly guesses that Morgan is planning to leave the group to help Martha. John tells Morgan they will wait for Morgan at the truck stop and come looking for him after two days.

Morgan sets off alone and contacts Martha via walkie. She tells him she’s at mile marker 54.

John’s group arrives at the truck stop and stocks up on supplies from the store.

Al replenishes the artillery in the SWAT van.

June and John peruse the aisles together. They kiss.

Morgan arrives at mile marker 54. He finds an infected Jim inside the police car and kills him. He sees Martha lying injured by her husband’s grave.

Morgan walks up to Martha and insists on helping. “Not yet,” she snarls.

Morgan drags Martha into the police car and starts driving.

Martha bangs her feet in protest. Morgan offers medicine, but she refuses. Morgan tells John via walkie that he is bringing Martha back to the truck stop. He loses contact.

Sarah notes that Morgan can hear John over the radio, but John won't be able to hear Morgan until he gets closer.

A group of Infected approaches the truck stop. Al prepares to fight them but collapses. Alicia shoots at the herd as June and Strand help Al. The gunshots attract more Infected.

Martha reveals to Morgan that nobody stopped to help her husband after their car accident. June contacts Morgan and tells him they are all sick.

Martha asks Morgan for the medicine. As Morgan hands it to her, she grabs his arm, causing him to swerve into rocks.

Martha pulls Morgan out of the car and writes on his face.

Morgan wakes up with a leg injury from the crash. Martha reveals a bite wound on her stomach and says Morgan must either kill her or she will kill him. She taunts Morgan as June tells Morgan the illness is getting worse.

Everyone at the truck stop doubles over in pain as Infected scrape at the windows. June realizes that someone opened the water bottles in the store and poisoned the water. Al deduces it was Martha.

June tells Morgan that Martha poisoned the water. Martha tells Morgan it was antifreeze. Morgan chokes her in anger then stops himself. He handcuffs Martha to the car and abandons her.

Morgan hobbles through the woods and tries to make contact with the group via walkie. He gets no response.

The group waits at the truck stop, growing weaker.

Morgan hot-wires a car and drives. He keeps walking after his car runs out of gas.

Morgan tries the walkie again but gets no response.

Al reaches out to Morgan on the radio. Morgan hears Al’s voice and keeps walking.

Al hears Morgan, who tells her that Martha poisoned them with antifreeze. June says the antidote to antifreeze poisoning is ethanol. Sarah points out that there’s a tanker full of ethanol outside.

Alicia, John and Wendell shoot at Infected outside the store while Strand and Luciana run over to the ethanol truck.

June bangs on a window to try and distract the herd away from Strand and Luciana. Al fires at the herd with her SWAT guns, killing the Infected but putting holes into the tanker and causing the ethanol to drain out.

The group languishes inside the market. June tells Morgan that they lost the ethanol. Morgan’s walkie dies.

A noise outside the truck stop draws Infected away from the doors. Morgan hobbles in and reveals that he brought a truck of Augie’s Ale, since alcohol is the same thing as ethanol.

The group recuperates and toasts with bottles of Augie’s Ale.

Morgan returns to the spot where he left Martha. He finds her severed arm attached to the police car then sees infected Martha staggering down the road. He stabs her dead.

Morgan buries Martha then tells the group they are not returning to Alexandria. He says that Martha became the person she was because nobody helped her when she needed it. He says that more people need help.

Morgan leads the group to an abandoned factory where Polar Bear had stored all of his trucks and supplies. Alicia proposes they build the place into something more. Strand asks how they’re going to find people in need. Al suggests they start with some of the people that she interviewed.

Morgan’s group mobilizes a convoy of vehicles outside the factory. They load up on ammo and head out. Morgan gets on his walkie and broadcasts that they are coming to help anyone who might be in need.
