On the latest episode of Bottomless Brunch at Colman’s, the man himself is teaching us how to make the all-time classic brunch cocktail: the Bloody Mary. While most of us are familiar with the drink from seeing it on restaurant menus, some may recall the spooky legend that gave the cocktail its name. Colman explains that it’s a “folklore legend, consisting of a ghost, phantom, or spirit conjured to reveal the future. She is said to appear in the mirror when her name is chanted repeatedly.”
True or not, we’re certain that if you grab the ingredients below and follow Colman’s recipe, a delicious cocktail will most definitely appear.
- 1.5 oz Ketel One Vodka
- 1 tsp dried dill
- 1 tsp ground white pepper
- 1 tsp celery salt
- 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 2 dashes hot sauce
- 0.5 oz Elixir juice (mix of olive brine, dill pickle brine, and various other pickle brines)
- 1 lemon wedge’s juice
- 1 tsp prepared horseradish
- 4 oz tomato juice
- kosher dill pickle and cooked thick-cut bacon slice, for garnish
Step 1: Coat the rim of a Collins glass with seasoning.
Step 2: Add ice and ingredients to glass and mix.
Step 3: Garnish with a kosher dill pickle spear and a cooked slice of thick-cut bacon.
Feel free to shake up Step 3 to your liking. Colman himself adds a cherry tomato, Daveed grabs a ghost pepper, and Julia goes for the celery stick. Don’t be shy.
