Better Call Saul

Michael Mando

A gifted actor and burgeoning filmmaker, Michael Mando continues to engage audiences with compelling performances in mindfully selected TV and film projects, always inspired by international appeal and artistic integrity. Mando can next be seen starring as fan-favorite, ‘Nacho Varga’ in the fifth season of AMC’s hit series, Better Call Saul. A spinoff prequel set before the events of Breaking Bad, the series follows the story of conman turned small-time lawyer, ‘Jimmy McGill’ (Bob Odenkirk), and his transformation into the persona of criminal-for-hire, ‘Saul Goodman’. Like its predecessor, the series has received immense critical acclaim and garnered multiple Golden Globe, SAG, Critics’ Choice, and Primetime Emmy® Award nominations including “Best Drama Series” in 2017. Prior to Better Call Saul, Mando starred in the first two seasons of BBC America’s breakout drama series Orphan Black opposite Tatiana Maslany, for which he earned one of his two nominations for “Best Supporting Actor” at The Canadian Screen Awards. On the big screen, he starred opposite Jesse Eisenberg, Alexander Skarsgard and Salma Hayek in Oscar-nominated director Kim Nguyen’s The Hummingbird Project, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018. Mando appeared as ‘Mac Gargan’ AKA ‘The Scorpion’ in Sony’s worldwide blockbuster film, Spiderman: Homecoming opposite Tom Holland, Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr. As an emerging filmmaker, Mando has written, produced, directed, and starred in two complementary short films; Conditional Affection, which centers on a dysfunctional couple dealing with separation, revenge and loyalty; and Wake Up, a visual thriller about a debt collector seeking emancipation from a haunting grief while spiraling into a psychological breakdown at work. In addition to his film and television roles, Mando has a massive fanbase generated from his starring, full motion capture role of ‘Vaas Montenegro’ in Ubisoft’s award-winning, mega hit videogame, Far Cry 3, and live action movie The Far Cry Experience. Vaas is one of the most beloved and charismatic villains in gaming history, and repeatedly has been ranked the greatest video game villain of all time. Ubisoft re-released the classic edition of the game in June 2018, bringing Vaas into the homes of a new generation of gamers and fans. Mando was born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada but spent most of his childhood and early adolescence in Africa (Ghana and Ivory Coast) where he studied under the French International Private School System. He graduated with honors from theatre school in Montreal where he was classically trained, and is perfectly bilingual in French and English.
