Tribeca Film Festival 2011 – Limelight Chronicles Rise & Fall of NYC’s Largest Nightclub Empire

AMC News correspondent Jacob Soboroff sits down with filmmakers Jen Gatien and Billy Corben of the new documentary Limelight and poses the question, “Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium: what are those places, and how are they central to this film?” Limelight itself proves to be the answer to the question. Corben explains that their documentary chronicles how a “small-town boy from Cornwall, Ontario, [built] the largest nightclub empire in the history of New York City.” The film features insider interviews with famous players in the club scene as well as key informants in Gatien’s high-profile trial, which took place after Mayor Giuliani’s crackdown on nightlife in the mid-nineties and led to Gatien’s deportation to Canada.
