Video – According to the Oscar-Nominated Director, The Fighter Is a Mob Flick

The Fighter should have more than a puncher’s chance at this Sunday’s Oscars. The boxing flick garnered seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Supporting Actor (for Christian Bale), Supporting Actress (for both Amy Adams and Melissa Leo), Original Screenplay, and Director (for David O. Russell). This is the first Academy Award nomination for Russell — who previously directed and wrote I Heart Huckabees and Three Kings. In a new Countdown to the Red Carpet video, AMC News correspondent Jacob Soborofff sits down with Russell to talk about what The Fighter has in common with mob movies and why it resonates with audiences.
