Walls Can’t Hold the Escape Artists of The Shawshank Redemption and The Fugitive

Jailbreaks and getaways are par for the course in movies, but the best cinematic escapes are in a different class. Sometimes, an escapee wows you with his or her ingenuity and sheer audacity. In The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne’s rock-hammer-and-Rita Hayworth scheme required mind-blowing patience. In The Fugitive, Dr. Richard Kimble demonstrated savantlike multitasking skills by solving his wife’s murder while also dodging an aggressive pack of U.S. marshals. One of the most audacious movie escapes, of course, is Hannibal Lecter’s gruesome and clever face-transplant ruse in The Silence of the Lambs. All different strategies; all stuff you couldn’t think of. Which escape wowed you the most?
