Once branded America’s sweetheart (she even starred in a movie with that title), Julia Roberts has played everything from a hooker (Pretty Woman) to a politically active socialite (Charlie Wilson’s War). Her colossal smile and leggy presence could have pigeonholed her into romantic comedies, but instead she’s parlayed her popularity into a diverse career that includes thrillers (Flatliners), legal potboilers (The Pelican Brief), period flicks (Michael Collins) and no fewer than five Steven Soderbergh movies. She can even play sassy without seeming cheesy, which may come in handy in her upcoming movie, Eat, Pray, Love. One thing’s for sure: There’s no one dimension to Julia Roberts.
