The Newsdesk 12.14.09 – DiCaprio and Gibson Team for Viking Tale; Princess Is No Frog at Box Office

• Mel Gibson and Leonardo DiCaprio are teaming up for an untitled Viking drama. Gibson will direct, while DiCaprio will star. We’re calling it right now: Vikings are the next vampires.

Dreamworks is developing the ensemble romantic comedy I Saw You, based on the comic book anthology about Craigslist missed connections. Look for the title to change to “I Saw You and Now We’re in Love, Actually.”

The Princess and the Frog took the top spot at the box office over the weekend, raking in $25 million. Meanwhile The Blind Side continues to prove that anything even remotely related to football will clean up at the box office this time of year.

• Charges have been dropped against the young woman who recorded three minutes of New Moon during a recent screening.

•  A Couple of Dicks, Kevin Smith’s buddy cop comedy starring Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis, will have its title changed to Cop Out. Could this be Smith’s none-too-subtle jab at the MPAA?

• Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Network and a Jim Henson biopic topped “The Black List,”  the annual list of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays.
