The Twilight Saga: New Moon broke The Dark Knight‘s record for the biggest opening day take, earning $72.7 million on Friday alone. The movie won the weekend with a whopping $140.7 million at   the box office, making it the third highest debut of all time. Right now Summit Entertainment execs are seeing sparkly dollar signs.

New Moon director Chris Weitz is in negotiations with Summit Entertainment for The Gardener, an immigration drama set in Los Angeles. Wasn’t Weitz just talking about retiring? It’s a wonder what a $140 million opening weekend will do.
