Michael Douglas visited our set over the weekend in Toronto (as you may have seen when we posted about it in real-time on Twitter) and he told me that his new movie Solitary Man is “a black comedy about how people respond when all of a sudden they get a wake-up call as to how much time they might have.” How does Douglas’ character behave? “Atrociously,” he responded.
The movie is directed by Brian Koppelman and David Levien and the script was written by Koppelman. These guys have collaborated before, as screenwriters of Ocean’s Thirteen and The Girlfriend Experience for Steven Soderbergh, who serves as producer on the movie. Susan Sarandon, Danny DeVito, Mary-Louise Parker, Jenna Fischer, and Jesse Eisenberg are also part of the cast. Watch the video below for more of our conversation.
