• R&B sensation Ne-Yo has joined the cast of Battle: Los Angeles, a scifi epic from director Jonathan Liebesman. Next summer, the battle is for the ladies.

• Nicolas Cage has dropped out of the villain role in Green Hornet. And there went our interest in Green Hornet.

• Halle Berry is in talks to star in the diving thriller Dark Tide. Finally. There hasn’t been a decent diving movie since 1988’s The Big Blue.

• The full theatrical trailer for Disney’s The Princess and the Frog has been released. Talking frogs, moderately catchy songs — Disney’s back!

My Bloody Valentine 3-D director Patrick Lussier is in talks to direct the 3D Halloween sequel. At this point, he basically sees everything in 3D.  

New Line has settled with the Tolkien Trust and HarperCollins in the ongoing profit participation lawsuit over The Lord of the Rings. About time. This lawsuit was more drawn out than the ending of Return of the King.

Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green will helm a remake of the horror film Suspiria in 2010. Could this be the beginning of a Jessica Harper comeback?
