The Newsdesk 05.22.09 – Bazooka Joe Scores a Movie Deal; Michael Moore to Return This Fall

• Michael Eisner’s Tornante Co. is developing a movie based on the Bazooka Joe chewing gum brand. Is this what it’s come to? Movies based on whatever Michael Eisner finds in his pocket?

• The first image from M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender has been released. The twist is, there is no twist. Creepy!

• Michael Moore’s latest documentary will be released in October. The as-yet-untitled film will address the worldwide financial crisis and investigate the conspiracy behind the lack of two-dollar bills.

Sean Penn and Robin Wright will stay together, as the actor submitted a request to dismiss divorce proceedings. Newsdesk approves. A world where the Penns aren’t together just doesn’t seem right.

• The latest trailer for Bruce Willis’ scifi thriller The Surrogates has been released. Robot Willis has one serious hairpiece.

• Michael Bay is scrambling to finish Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. So if a scene suddenly cuts from Shia to footage from The Rock, you’ll know Bay didn’t meet the deadline.

Home Makeover-type shows may. I’m not so sure it doesn’t do more harm than
good.
