Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Alien With a New Comic

Alien With a New Comic” width=”560″/>

Has it really been three decades since that creature burst out of John Hurt’s stomach in Alien ? To mark the movie’s 30th anniversary, Dark Horse plans to relaunch the Alien comics with a new series courtesy of B.P.R.D. writer John Arcudi and up-and-coming artist Zach Howard (Shaun of the Dead). Dark Horse Comics has been publishing comics set in the Alien universe since 1988, often pitting H.R. Giger’s terrifying creation against the likes of the Predator, Terminator, and even Superman. Aliens #1 follows a group of planetary prospectors who discover a lost city on a distant world that (wouldn’t you know it?) is also home to some acid-spitting creepy crawlies.

As if this reboot wasn’t already the perfect jumping-on point for readers, Dark Horse is also giving away a free Alien/Predator comic for this year’s Free Comic Book Day. (Also look for reprints of past series in the Aliens Omnibus collections.) Celebrate the franchise’s 30th year with new comics — and pray we get another movie to erase the memory of Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
