"I know it’s silly… But I believe… I believe…"
"God bless us, everyone."
Most Christmas movies are replayed so repeatedly that you could recite the key lines back to the television along with the cast. So how about this one?
"I’m sure that through this worldwide publicity, we shall find my three sons."
At a loss? Well, its from Christmas Eve, an old black-and-white chestnut with a kooky plot and an impressive cast. Joan Blondell, George Raft, and Randolph Scott co-star in this sentimental tale about a batty old lady who can only save her fortune by getting her adopted kids to return. The problem is that none of them is leading an above-board life: one is a swindler, one appears to have Mafia connections, and one is a drunk who works in the rodeo. Gold digging. Baby stealing. Nazi war crimes. The complications pile up like presents under the tree. Does it all work out in the end? Hey, it’s a Christmas movie. What do you think?
Christmas Eve plays at 4 p.m. this afternoon, December 24, on AMC.Read More
