Hopkins to Play Hitchcock in BioPic

HopkinsWe know you love Alfred Hitchcock, so you’ll want to hear this: A biopic about the legendary director is in the works, and Anthony Hopkins will be playing him. MTV Movies has a brief video clip of Sir Anthony discussing the movie and doing the famous Hitchcock voice.

Hopkins has excelled in the past at characters both historic (Richard Nixon, Pablo Picasso, John Quincy Adams) and horrific (that Lecter fella), so it’s hard to imagine a better choice for the role. Still, Hitchcock was such a well-known and unique personality that it’s going to be hard for Hopkins to overcome our memories of the original. And we have to hope the script shows the proper respect without turning into a freakshow like Ed Wood.

Hopkins also confirmed that he will be playing Benicio del Toro’s father in the remake of The Wolf Man, the role originally played by Claude Rains in 1941.
