New DVD Releases for March 13

Every week, countless number of new (and old) horror titles make their way to DVD, but only we know which ones are worth checking out. So with that in mind, here’s this week’s DVD highlights.

The top pick of the week is no doubt Shriek Show’s remastered version of Lucio Fulci’s LIZARD IN A WOMAN’S SKIN. SS originally offered another special edition of this title a few years ago, but it turned out to be an incomplete print, which upset fans. However, all that has been corrected with this brand new version that give us the complete cut (with all the sex and violence intact) with a new HD transfer. The results are getting solid reviews and the film is one of Fulci’s best, a solid early giallo effort that would later pave way for the likes of ZOMBIE and THE BEYOND.

Other highlights this week include HORROR BUSINESS, a new documentary about the indie horror film industry, featuring interviews with Hershel Gordon Lewis and Sid Haig; SUBLIME, a new direct-to-DVD feature from Warners’ in-house genre unit Raw Feed, starring Tom Cavanaugh (of TV’s ED) as a man who checks into the hospital for a simple procedure and checks out a bloodthirsty madman; and finally there’s NIGHT OF THE WEREWOLF and , a pair of Paul Nachy Spanish horror classics with alternate soundtracks and new transfers.

Coming next week: RE-ANIMATOR returns!
