In the apocalypse, it’s kill or be killed. At least that’s the way the women of Oceanside see it.
“The lesson that the Oceanside community has learned is that letting anyone leave who is not already an Oceanside member could be the recipe for their extinction,” says Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd.
So when the Oceansiders realize Tara’s group is at war with the Saviors — who they are hiding from — they decide she must die.
But not everyone in the new community wants Tara dead. Cyndie, who saves Tara from her execution, does “recognize that they are in it together,” says Executive Producer/Showrunner Scott M. Gimple.
That’s why, even after returning home and finding out who the Saviors killed, Tara keeps Oceanside a secret.
“Tara sees a lot of her younger self in Cyndie,” says Alanna Masterson (Tara). “She made a promise. She’s protecting those women. She’s protecting Cyndie.”
