The Walking Dead Receives Four Emmy Nominations

Today the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced its nominees for the 67th Annual Emmy Awards, and The Walking Dead was honored with four nominations for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series, Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series and Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series. The nominations are part of 24 total awards AMC received this year, with 11 nominations going to Mad Men, 7 to Better Call Saul, 1 to Talking Dead and 1 to Halt and Catch Fire.

In the Outstanding Special Visual Effect’s category, The Walking Dead was nominated for the Season 5 Finale and will compete against the VFX teams from FX Networks’ American Horror Story, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, FOX’s Gotham and Netflix’s Daredevil.

For Outstanding Sound Editing, the sound editing team for The Walking Dead‘s Season 5 Finale will contend with the editors from Starz’ Black Sails, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, FOX’s Gotham and Netflix’s Daredevil.

In the Outstanding Stunt Coordination category, The Walking Dead‘s Stunt Coordinator, Monty Simons, is up against NBC’s The Blacklist, FX Networks’ Sons of Anarchy, and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones.

For Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup, Greg Nicotero and his team at KNB EFX Group will contend with the makeup teams from FX Networks’ American Horror Story, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, Cinemax’s The Knick and Showtime’s Penny Dreadful.

The 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live Sunday, September 20 at 8/7c on FOX.
