Veena Sud – Executive Producer
Veena Sud is the executive producer and showrunner on The Killing. Its 2010 bow was one of AMC's highest rated series debuts and was nominated for six Emmys in 2011, including Outstanding Cast for a Drama Series and Sud's nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Sud has also been honored for her work on The Killing in The Hollywood Reporter's 2011 Power Showrunners list and Variety's Women's Impact Report.
Sud was previously a writer and executive producer on the police procedural Cold Case. Prior to that, she was a staff writer on Push, Nevada. She worked as a print and broadcast journalist in New York City before moving into television writing.
Sud's fascination with "dark, flawed, complicated women" started at a young age. At 16 years old, Sud wrote her first screenplay about two prostitutes after persuading a Cincinnati vice cop to show her the underbelly of her town.
Sud is an alumnus of New York University's Graduate Film and Television program. Her short films have been screened internationally, including at the Berlin Film Festival.
