Ruth Negga Nominated for BAFTA Award, Talks Tulip With WWD

This week, Ruth Negga is nominated for an award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and also discusses Tulip with Women’s Wear Daily. Plus, Preacher is recognized by the Art Directors Guild. Read on for more:

E! Online reports that Ruth Negga has been nominated for a BAFTA Award in the rising star category. Dominic Cooper was one of the announcers of the nominations.

• Ruth Negga tells Women’s Wear Daily that Tulip is “a breath of brilliantly strange, fresh air. She’s a unique, original character and I think there’s not many people like that on screen. It’s a privilege to play her.”

• Commenting on Ruth Negga’s BAFTA nod, ComicBook.com says Negga “has worked steadily since 2004, but is on the verge of a breakout point in her career as she continues to explore multiple angles.”

• Speaking with the Irish Examiner, Dominic Cooper says of Ruth Negga’s Rising Star nomination, “It’s wonderful to see and to have watched that process unfold and for it to be appreciated is a beautiful thing.”

Variety reports that Preacher has received a nod from the Art Directors Guild in the One-Hour Contemporary Single-Camera Series category for “See,” “South Will Rise Again” and “Finish the Song.”
