The Science of Video Game Fighting: What Would Happen If You Were Dragon Punched?

Jake Roper of Vsauce3, and AMC’s Into the Badlands have teamed up to present a webseries about the science behind video game combat. In this week’s installment, Roper uses physics, biology and a robotic dragon punch to answer a question inspired by Street Fighter: “What would happen if you were Shoryukened?”

The Shoryuken is a jumping uppercut used as an iconic finishing move from the video game series, Street Fighter. Often referred to as a Dragon Punch, the Shoryuken launches your pixellated video game enemies into the air. But what would happen to your body if you were the victim of a Shoryuken in real life? Featuring stunt fighters from Into the Badlands, VSauce3 breaks down the physics of a Dragon Punch and how that force would effect the human body.

Into the Badlands airs Sundays at 10/9c on AMC.
