• Variety reports that Mackenzie Davis won the Tribeca Film Festival award for Best Actress in a U.S. Narrative Feature Film for her performance in Always Shine.
• Hollywood Outbreak reports that Season 2 will be available on DVD on Aug. 9, noting that Season 2 “took a sharp left turn, as the PC wars of the freshman season was replaced by Joe MacMillan’s (Lee Pace) attempts to find new inspiration following his ‘fiery departure’ from Cardiff.”
• Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mackenzie Davis says she wanted to do Always Shine because it “was deconstructing modes of femininity that can be oppressive to women, or ways of being a woman or female that are frowned upon.”
• Reviewing Always Shine, Indiewire says of Mackenzie Davis and Caitlin Fitzgerald, the movie’s two stars, that “these are the types of roles that don’t generally get recognized during awards season, but they’ll likely be among the year’s best performances.”
