Breaking Bad Ties for Most WGA Nominations, Daily Mirror Praises the Pilot for Its Very First Scene

The Hollywood Reporter and TV.com discuss Breaking Bad‘s multiple WGA nominations while U.K.’s Daily Mirror lauds the opening scene of Breaking Bad‘s pilot as Season 1 re-airs abroad. Plus: A couple more “best of” citations from.

The Hollywood Reporter has a round-up of nominees for the Writers Guild Awards, and TV.com notes that Breaking Bad is tied for the most nominations (three) with Modern Family and 30 Rock.

• The U.K.’s FX Channel re-airs Season 1, and the Daily Mirror calls the pilot’s first scene “one of the finest opening scenes to one of the best TV drama series of this or any other decade.”

The Salt Lake Tribune ranks Breaking Bad at number four on its list of the year’s best TV, remarking, “Shocking is too mild a word to describe it.” Meanwhile, the drama (“real, gritty and dangerous…”) lands at number six on the Seattle Times‘ ranking.

TV Guide‘s list of the year’s best episodes includes Breaking Bad: Episode 7, “One Minute” is at number three because it “includes the most tense, agonizing 60 seconds committed to film…”
