Michael Slovis – Cinematographer
Director of Photography (DP) Michael Slovis has worked in motion picture and television film production for the past three decades. As chief lighting technician (gaffer) for 12 years he did movies like Ironweed, Streets of Gold and A Shock to the System.
Slovis began his DP career in independent films in New York. In 1995, he shot the Sundance Film Festival favorite Party Girl. His extensive DP credits include theatrical films, television episodic, television pilots and television/DVD release movies. In 2007, Slovis completed two and a half years as DP on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, for which he won the 2006 Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography in a Single Camera Series. He was nominated again in 2007.
Slovis recently completed the second season of the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad for AMC and is currently shooting Fringe for the Fox Network. He lives in Montclair, NJ with his wife, Maria. His son Ben attends The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (2011), his son Jake attends New York University (2009) and his daughter will attend Barnard College (2013) in September 2009.
