Jean-Christophe "Pitof" Comar (born 4 July 1957) is a French visual effects supervisor and director notable for Vidocq and Catwoman. Most of Pitof's work has been in French language films, such as 1995's La Cité des enfants perdus and 1999's Astérix et Obélix contre César. In 1999, he worked on The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) and was the visual effects supervisor for 1997's Alien Resurrection. His directorial debut was the 2001 fantasy thriller Vidocq. In 2004, he directed Catwoman, starring Halle Berry. The film was critically panned and a commercial failure; Pitof "won" the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director. Berry later stated: "I want to thank Warner Bros. for casting me in this piece-of-shit, god-awful movie".
